The Holocaust

The Nazi’s used various forms of persecution such as: antisemitic laws, organized violence, displacement, internment, and forced labor. In 1941, Nazi leaders implemented the “Final Solution to the Jewish Question”, which was the mass murder of Jews. They were forced into crowded ghettos, where they faced extreme poverty, malnutrition, and disease. Many Jews were separated from their families, with loved ones sent to different concentration camps or killed outright.

This began the final stage of the holocaust, which took place from 1941-1945. Two main methods were used to execute this genocide: mass shooting and gassing. The establishment of extermination camps, such as Auschwitz-Birkenau, Sobibor, and Treblinka, allowed for millions of Jews to be systematically murdered. The scale of the destruction and loss of life was unprecedented.
