Anna hircsu was born on January 30, 1913 in Hungary. She worked as a housekeeper in Budapest for the Erdős family for many years. The family had two children, János and Mária, whom she was very attached to. In 1943, the children's father, István Erdős died on the Russian Front leaving their mother Klári alone to raise the children. Hircsu became ill with tuberculosis, and had to stop working for the family
